Resource Spotlight: European Research Council Videos and Webinars for Grant Applicants

The European Research Council (ERC) offers a range of official video resources for researchers, research support offices and host institutions interested in ERC funding opportunities. These include explainers on ERC grant schemes, proposal preparation, evaluation processes, grant management and international applicant pathways.

A useful starting point is the ERC’s official YouTube channel, which brings together videos and playlists on ERC funding, frontier research, grant application processes and project management:

For prospective applicants, the ERC Grant application explained / ERC Classes playlist provides practical videos on the ERC application and evaluation process. This can be helpful for researchers preparing proposals, as well as for university teams supporting potential applicants:

The ERC also provides a separate ERC Grant management explained playlist, offering practical guidance on the financial and administrative aspects of managing an ERC grant under Horizon Europe. This may be especially relevant for host institutions, research administrators and successful grantees preparing for project implementation:

For researchers based outside Europe, including in India, the ERC–EURAXESS Global Webinar series is another useful resource. The 2025 webinar series includes regional sessions explaining ERC grant schemes and application pathways for global researchers:

ERC grants support excellent investigator-driven frontier research across all fields. Researchers of any nationality may apply, but ERC-funded projects must be carried out through a host institution located in an EU Member State or a country associated to Horizon Europe. For researchers in India, this makes ERC resources particularly relevant when exploring opportunities with Europe-based host institutions, including Nordic universities:

For Nordic universities and research institutions, these resources may also be useful for research support offices, international offices and academic departments working with global research talent and prospective ERC applicants.

The Nordic Centre in India shares this resource as part of its wider effort to support meaningful Nordic–India research engagement and to help researchers and institutions navigate relevant opportunities for collaboration.
