The Research Council of Norway has an open-ended call for Support for Events, providing funding for conferences, workshops and seminars that support research dissemination, knowledge sharing, the development of a knowledge base, and/or the establishment of scientific collaboration. Events may be physical or digital.
For the NCI network, the call is particularly relevant because the thematic area Democracy and global development includes support for events connected to research cooperation with India. The Norwegian call text specifies support for “forskningssamarbeid med India over et bredt spekter av tematiske områder” — research cooperation with India across a broad range of thematic areas.
Under this thematic area, events may be held either in Norway or abroad. Where an event is held outside Norway, only Norwegian research organisations may apply and serve as Project Owner. The Project Owner must carry the costs and remain responsible for accounting and reporting. Side events attached to other conferences or events are not supported under this provision.
For events linked to research cooperation with India, applicants may seek up to NOK 200,000 per event. The total available funding for the India research cooperation priority is NOK 1 million. Applications must be submitted at least six weeks before the event starts, and each application may be directed to only one topic within the call.
The call may be relevant for Norwegian research organisations seeking to build or strengthen India-related academic collaboration through open research workshops, thematic seminars, dissemination activities, and partnership-building events. Events should be framed around research dissemination, knowledge sharing and/or the establishment of scientific collaboration, and must be open to everyone who wishes to participate.
For Nordic higher education and research institutions, this opportunity highlights the continued scope for structured Norway–India research engagement across a broad range of thematic areas. The Nordic Centre in India welcomes opportunities that strengthen meaningful Nordic–India research cooperation and can support member institutions in identifying relevant Indian partners, framing India-facing event concepts, and facilitating local coordination where appropriate.
