NCI Teaching Practice Placement Programme 2023 is an eight week international practice placement opportunity for students from NCI member universities. This programme not only allows students to practice at a reputed Indian school but also through lectures, field visits, interaction with practitioners, students will get an opportunity to learn about and experience the landscape of education delivery in India. Students will leave with a greater knowledge of how to operate in a multicultural setting, learn skills teaching a different curriculum in a diverse cultural environment, and will be more adaptable to new situations. Students will also impart new teaching methods and techniques to the school they are working in, making the programme a mutually beneficial arrangement for all involved.
Located in the cosmopolitan city of Kolkata, the programme includes an initial one week intensive orientation with lectures, field visits, assignments, and preparatory readings. This part of the programme will be held in partnership with the Department of Education of St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata (https://www.sxccal.edu/faculty-education-department/). Students will have access to mentors at the department of education whom they can meet during their time in Kolkata to provide the relevant academic support while also having mentors in the classes that they will be assigned to.
Orientation Fee: 200 Euros per student. The fee covers field visits, lectures, and local transport related to field visits.
Room rent INR 1500 per day per student on a twin sharing basis
The fee does not cover expenses for travels to and from Kolkata, visa fees, food or medical and travel insurance.

The admission procedure is conducted by nomination, i.e. after the International offices have received and reviewed the applications they will nominate students qualified for the summer course to the Nordic Centre in India (NCI).
The students admitted to the course will be given the approprate documents by NCI and can apply for the relevant visa through the Indian embassy in their home country.

Housing will be arranged at a local hotel which is conveniently placed beside shopping mall and market, and is accessible to public transport as well as the school bus. The school is less than ten minutes away.
The school will additionally provide local transport, breakfast, lunch and a snack on school days.
