The Department of Management and Engineering (IEI) at Linköping University has extensive activities in finance, with research, postgraduate education, and undergraduate education in three different divisions: Business Administration and Economics at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and Production Economics at the Faculty of Science and Engineering. The Division of Business Administration conducts research and provides undergraduate and postgraduate education in three areas: Marketing, Strategy and Organization, and Accounting and Finance. This position is in the Division of Business Administration and within the Unit for Accounting and Finance, but the assignment spans all three divisions at IEI.
Research is a significant part of the position, where the holder of the position as Professor of Finance, in the role of research leader, is expected to develop, drive, and lead research at a high international level within the finance area broadly and more specifically within financial economics, including corporate finance and valuation. The research is conducted at the division and in collaboration with other teachers and researchers active in finance. In addition to conducting your own research, a central task for this position is to attract external funding for doctoral students, postdocs, and other colleagues. An important part of the position is to lead the work of initially building up and then further developing a center formation within financial economics, where the department’s research and teaching in finance are linked together.
You are active in the research community, participate in the division's activities such as seminars and workshops, participate in research projects, communicate results through academic publications and help attract external research funding.
As a Professor of Finance, you will teach at an advanced level in Swedish and English and supervise students in financial economics. The teaching part of the position includes course design and course responsibility.
You contribute actively to the university's development work. We would like you to show interest in and collaborate with local society. The collaboration assignment applies both in educational and research contexts. In the context of education, the main objective is to ensure the relevance of education to working life and to create the conditions for lifelong learning. In the context of research, the collaboration assignment applies mainly through disseminating, making available and utilising research.
Interest in administration and management tasks that build on collaboration between different units within academia and with industry and society is important for the position.
Your work includes monitoring developments nationally and internationally within your field of study and other societal developments that are important to your work.
You are flexible and have the ability to move between different types of pedagogical and scientific contexts. You share knowledge and contribute to the working group’s professional development, collegial ways of working and social community. The fact that you are present and active is something we see as self-evident in order to ensure that you are able to perform your duties in an optimum way and enjoy your working community.
