Doctoral in Humanities Studies with a specialization in Swedish, Karlstad University

Doctoral in Humanities Studies with a specialization in Swedish, Karlstad University

Description

Research in the Swedish language at Örebro University is about critically examining and increasing our understanding of text and speech in different contexts, often in working life and school. The research is particularly strong in multimodal text, genre and discourse analysis as well as literacy and writing research, not least from the perspective of language education. The research is organized into three research groups: Multimodal Communication (https://www.oru.se/forskning/forskargrupper/fg/?rdb=g406), Teaching, Learning, Humanities (https://www.oru.se/forskning/forskargrupper/fg/?rdb=g412) and Humanities Sustainability Studies (https://www.oru.se/forskning/forskargrupper/fg/?rdb=g413).

Research in the Swedish language at Karlstad University is conducted in dialect studies, discourse analysis, grammar, corpus studies, language history, sociology of language and text analysis. There are collaborations with researchers in other subjects, both at Karlstad University and with other universities. Several of the researchers are affiliated with the Centre for Language and Literature Education (CSL): https://www.kau.se/csl.

In a broad sense, the applicant should orient his/her thesis project (see research plan under Application below) towards the activities of one of the research groups at Örebro University and towards one of the research areas of the Swedish language at Karlstad University: dialect studies, discourse analysis, grammar, corpus studies, language history, sociology of language and text analysis.
